Africa has the resources, the young people and now a single continental market. Yet it mostly ships raw materials out and buys finished goods in. Make in Africa exists to change that.
Make in Africa was conceived by like-minded people in Sydney who believe the continent should build more of what it uses and sells. Our operations office is in Johannesburg and our founding office is in Sydney. We work in partnership with GSEF and WSSH Australia.
Our founding principle is partnership: government, business, innovators and civil society working together, with no single voice setting the agenda alone.

Colonial-era extraction and unequal trade rules helped build industrial wealth in Europe and other rich economies. Today’s global rules still price risk, credit and tariffs in ways that keep processing offshore.
We ask the EU, the G7 and every major economy that trades with Africa to give back and help build: fair long-term finance, technology sharing, market access for processed goods and an end to illicit financial outflows.

Africa must also do its part: sound governance, more trade between African countries, honest standards and delivery. Make in Africa will keep score and publish who delivers, on every side.
The inaugural Make in Africa Global Summit takes place in January 2027 in Sandton, Johannesburg. It is the start of a long programme, not a finished story. The years ahead will test every promise made there.

This movement is new, and it is open. Join us as the work of making more in Africa begins.
The Make In Africa Global Summit (MIAGS) is a global platform connecting leaders, businesses, investors, institutions and policymakers shaping the next era of economic growth across the Global South and Africa.
MIAGS advances South–South cooperation, trade, investment, industrialization, technology, infrastructure and economic resilience, creating platforms for dialogue, strategic partnerships and cross-border opportunities.
Our mission is to strengthen the Global South and Africa’s role in the global economy by connecting capital with opportunity, innovation with markets and economic priorities with action—while fostering a more connected, productive and influential economic future.
