MIA Global Summit in the News

The Summit Story

Coverage as It Happens

The Make in Africa Global Summit takes place in January 2027 in Sandton, Johannesburg. This page will gather media coverage, statements and releases as the Summit approaches. There is nothing listed yet. We will add each item here as it happens, and we will not claim coverage that has not appeared.

What It Is About

Making More in Africa

Africa has the resources, young people and a single continental market, yet it mostly ships out raw materials and buys finished goods in. The Summit brings governments, investors and companies together to change that, by building industry on the continent.

Fair Terms

Repairing the Terms of Trade

Colonial-era extraction and unequal rules helped build wealth elsewhere, and today's system still prices risk, credit and tariffs in ways that keep processing offshore. We ask the EU, the G7 and other major economies to give back and help build, on fair terms.

Media Releases

Statements From the Movement

Official statements and releases will be published here as they are issued. Each will come from Make in Africa and will be dated when it appears. Until then, please use the contact form for any question about the Summit or the movement.

Coverage Archive

Reporting on the Summit

Links to articles, broadcasts and podcasts that cover the Summit will be collected here as they appear. We will list coverage as published, whether or not it agrees with us, and will say clearly where it comes from.

Accreditation

Requesting Media Accreditation

Journalists who wish to attend the Summit can request accreditation through the contact form. Tell us your outlet, your role and what you plan to cover. Accreditation is handled by the Summit team, and we will reply as the programme is finalised.

Interviews

Speaking to the Movement To request an interview, a briefing or background material, write to us through the contact form. State your deadline and topic. We will connect you with someone who can speak for Make in Africa on industrialisation, trade or investment.

Background

Understanding the Movement

Make in Africa is a pan-African movement conceived in Sydney, with its operations office in Johannesburg. We work with partners including GSEF and WSSH Australia. The Summit is its annual flagship, and the January 2027 edition is the inaugural one.

Reporting Standards

Accurate and Fair

We will only publish what we can stand behind and will correct errors promptly. Facts will carry sources. We criticise systems, policies and rules, never peoples. We ask the media to quote us accurately and to ask when something is unclear.

Stay Informed

Check back as the Summit approaches. Coverage, statements and releases will appear here as they happen. Journalists, editors and producers are welcome to write to us through the contact form for accreditation, interviews and background.
