The Mediation, Arbitration and Conciliation Committee is a Make in Africa expert group of legal and business professionals from across the continent. Businesses face high costs, long delays and court backlogs when disputes arise. The committee promotes mediation, arbitration and conciliation as practical alternatives, guides members on how they work, and refers them to qualified lawyers and recognised arbitration institutions. Make in Africa does not itself arbitrate or give legal advice.
To build an ecosystem where disputes are resolved quickly and amicably, so businesses keep strong relationships and cut the time and cost of litigation.
Dialogue between disputing parties to reach agreed solutions while they keep control of the outcome.
Binding decisions by impartial arbitrators at recognised institutions, avoiding long litigation.
Help for parties to reach an amicable agreement with an experienced conciliator.
Improve Africa’s business environment by reducing dependence on litigation through alternative dispute resolution.
Work with governments and regional bodies to bring mediation and arbitration into business practice.
Run workshops, training and awareness campaigns on how dispute resolution works.
Whether you face a business disagreement, a contract dispute or a complex commercial conflict, the committee can guide you and refer you to the right qualified body. Write to us through the form to learn how members can save time, money and relationships.
