Africa has abundant sun, wind, water and land, yet many homes and factories still lack reliable power. This New and Renewable Energy Framework 2027-2035 is a Make in Africa proposal for African governments, regional bodies and partner countries. It is a set of proposals, not law. It aims to help countries use their renewable resources for energy security, industry and jobs, and to build the equipment and skills at home instead of importing them.
An inclusive transition matters. We are dedicated to creating jobs, particularly for young people, through skills development in the renewable energy sector, and we ask wealthy economies to support it with fairly priced climate and industrial finance.

By 2035, this framework envisions African countries drawing on clean energy at scale while building the industries around it. The key shared components of this vision include:
Make in Africa is dedicated to helping build a strong clean energy ecosystem across the continent that speeds the shift to renewables, improves energy security and drives lasting growth. The key shared missions of this framework are:

We encourage African governments to simplify the process for renewable energy developers, with dedicated review teams for project approvals, faster decisions, fewer regulatory obstacles and transparent monitoring of delivery.
This New and Renewable Energy Framework is a proposal to help Africa power its growth with clean energy it largely builds itself. Through patient investment, innovation and skills, countries can strengthen energy security while contributing to global climate goals on fair terms.
Make in Africa invites investors, clean energy innovators and renewable energy pioneers to join this journey and help build a sustainable, green future for Africa.
