Partner Charity Shops

Selling African-Made Goods With Purpose

A Proposed Scheme for Retailers and Charities

Make in Africa goes beyond talk and events. We propose a Partner Charity Shops scheme and invite retailers and charities to take part. Shops that stock and sell African-made goods would give makers a route to market, and proceeds would support young makers. The scheme is a proposal, and its details will be shaped with those who join.

The Idea Behind the Scheme

Retail with Purpose

We propose that partner shops stock goods made in Africa and direct part of their proceeds to skills and support for young makers. Shoppers would buy quality products and help the people who make them. The terms would be agreed openly with each retailer or charity that joins.

Backing African Makers

Made in Africa, Sold With Pride

Partner shops would stock products from African workshops, small factories and processors. Selling more African-made goods builds local jobs, keeps more value on the continent and gives makers a fair, steady route to customers.

Fair and Honest Sourcing

Shop with a Conscience

We invite partners to favour goods that are fairly made and fairly priced, with honest labelling about where and how they were produced. Fair terms for makers matter as much as the product on the shelf.

Workshops and Maker Events

More Than a Shop

Partners could host maker showcases, skills sessions and talks in their shops. These would introduce customers to African-made goods and help young makers meet buyers, suppliers and mentors in their own communities.

Volunteer Opportunities

Be Part of the Change

Charities and shops that join could involve volunteers in stocking, selling and running events. Volunteers would help young makers reach customers and help the scheme grow from a proposal into a working network.

How You Can Take Part

Retailers, Charities and Supporters

Taking part is simple: stock, sell or support. Retailers and charities can register interest to stock African-made goods, and shoppers can choose them. Proceeds are intended to support young makers in Africa.
